Tax the Rich!!! Tax the Rich!!! Tax the Rich!!!!

TAX THE RICH...  The route to a balanced budget?  No, just pandering to the base.  This is a wonderful ploy for a radical liberal like Obama.  It satisfies the base and continues the growth of government, grows the debt and eventually leads to  collapse.  Is this what Obama wants?  Unfortunately, yes.
For heavens sake why?  Let me explain.

Lets take  "Tax the Rich  first.  It is always a good ploy to indicate that someone else is going to Pay and I am going to get something for nothin!  First of all in the minds of the poor and or generally low to middle class, the rich got it by doing wrong.  They cant quite put their finger on it, but it must be so and pandering politicians know they can stir up hate and envy by doing this.  Unfortunately for the most part the rich got rich by doing things that make people rich and the poor got that way by doing things that make people poor.
So the rich will continue to do the things that make them rich.  When an obstacle is thrown in their path, they find a way over, under or through it.  So here come higher taxes.  They react, they plan, they do things that will minimize the effect.  Too often those actions result in little or no real increase in tax revenue, and even a reduction in revenue to the government.  As Bob Woodward says that it is a "Fantasy" to think we can make any real impact on deficit reduction by taxing the rich.  We know that.  On the other hand when taxes are lowered revenue to the government actually rises!  President Kennedy, Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan did it and revenue exploded.  Then why, if we are really trying to solve the deficit and debt, do we do things that dont generally work?

Ah Ha!  When we take these actions we are not really trying to solve the problem!!!  We are accomplishing a goal.  That goal is move us along toward collapse.  Why would someone want to do this?  Seems like treason, no just a philosophy.  Government can and must do it.  When a real crises comes along... The great depression, world wars we look to the government.  With total collapse the government will move in and take control and of and more of our lives.  And that is the goal.  More control, more and more money needed, more and more people needed to administer and make decisions and more and more people (read: Voters) dependent on the government.  And round and round it goes.
President Obama says he wants a "Balanced Approach"; revenue (taxes) and spending cuts.  Have you studied all of the proposed spending cuts?  No, because none have been proposed.  Does anybody really believe that the president will cut spending?  Not likely.  Politicians don't cut.  That is like taking Santa Claus away.

Are we on the road to Greece?  Yes, well on the way.  Can we turn back? Probably not.  We see the results; many of the countries in Europe. Beside Greece.  We have seen it in South America (Argentina).
To make an impact on the problem we must create an environment that allows the American people to go out and pursue their dreams so they can do what they do best...  build, create jobs, "Make Money" and "Pay Taxes"!

The liberal argument sounds so good..."why wouldn't you want to help?". The conservative argument gets characterized as heartless and miserly.  Too many are taken in by this "plausible"  argument without critical thinking.

So go ahead and tax the rich.  The rich will be fine, the poor will be devastated paving the road  to big government, less freedom and say goodbye to the "American Dream".  Say hello to Greece.

Selling a Lie

Generally in our country, an idea has to be sold to the masses if it is ultimately succeed.  So politicians pound away at their agenda hoping to persuade the masses that it is true.  The old saying is that if you say it enough, you say it loudly, it becomes so.

Current example:  The democrats at their convention continually (and loudly) said that Obama  "Saved the auto industry".  Of course, this is not so, but if you say it enough....  it become so.

So let's dissect this.  This is important to the democrats because Ohio and Michigan (big unionized car producing states) are currently in play in the election.  Jobs are key and those states are important.

Now to the argument; "Obama Saved the auto industry".

First of all, the auto industry was not in danger of going away.  If there was no governmental intervention, they could have gone thru bankruptcy, shed their unsustainable contracts  (with unions and others) so they could complete long term in this  new world.

Obama saved the union jobs and indeed preserved the industry for now.  But he "saved" it in a way that it cannot long stand in this competitive world.  They still have their labor contracts on compensation and benefits that will not work in today's world  To do so he shredded the constitution by violating the rule of law. Bond holders were thrown under the bus.  Law ignored.  We are at a point where we should get a report from our governments, local and state, on what laws they will and will not enforce!!!!

So Obama did preserve the industry with the help of billions of dollars of debt, ignoring laws and indeed it may work long enough to get reelected, the real objective.  But a restructuring is necessary through bankruptcy or other to build a business that thrives long term, not just until the next election.

But will it save the industry?  No.  Restructuring is needed to do that and we kicked the can down the road on that on.

How many real problems are kicked down the road  by this administration and congress? You can think Medicare, Social Security, borrowing 40 cents of every dollar spent by the government and on an on. It is going to be interesting to see how this finally works out!

Thuggery... a long time tradition

In Paul's second missionary journey (about 50 AD) he encountered opposition.  In fact all of his missions he received opposition.  Specifically in this instance, in Thessalonica, he started proclaiming Jesus.  And some of the Jews did not like this.  Did they debate and argue and try to persuade?  No, they "...they rounded up some bad characters from  the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city."  (NIV Acts 17)

Does this sound familiar? Sure, it continues today.  If you can't stand on your ideas, you resort to other means.  Can I say "Occupy Wall Street" or unions gathering and going to individuals homes and threatening.

Any time you see a riot or mob, you can realize the argument is lost.  They have no rational discussion to dispute the other side.

Just a reminder as we go into a very argumentative election season, and as we debate many crucial issues facing our country.

Social Justice

One of the buzz words now is "Social Justice".  Sounds good, warm and fuzzy... who does not want social justice?  Jonah Goldberg blows a hole thru it with this:

"The only way for social justice to make sense is if you operate from the assumption that the invisible hand of the market should be amputated and replaced with the very visible hand of the state. In other words, each explicit demand for social justice carries with it the implicit but necessary requirement that the state do the fixing. And a society dedicated to the pursuit of perfect social justice must gradually move more and more decisions under the command of the state, until it is the sole moral agent.

Social justice is a Trojan horse concealing a much more radical agenda. “Social justice” is a profoundly ideological term, masquerading as a generic term for goodness. In short, it is a tyrannical cliché, a seemingly benign truism that, like a pill with a pleasant protective coating, conceals a mind-altering substance within.”

Quote of the Day

"There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."

Bite the evil Apple

In a long article the New York Times caught Apple red handed obeying the tax laws!!!  But hey obviously were not paying their "Fair Share" according to the New York Times!!!!

Now to come to this conclusion the New York Times obviously knows what Apple's "Fair Share" should be. President Obama is talking the same theme. Obviously he knows everybody's "Fair Share" as well.

But they never tell us, do they?

Does the article take the legislators to task for the laws they write?

Not so much.

Do they consider that corporate taxes are the mother's milk of our fine legislators and the president? It is a nice booty taken from the taxpayers under the cover of the evil corporations. Any time you buy an Apple product you are funding the government. Do you realize that the US has the highest corporate tax in the world?

Time to rethink "Fair Share". I for one have contributed some of my "Fair Share" when I purchased the IPad I am using to write this post.

We go back to a previous post... Until a politician says what that elusive "Fair Share" is... consider it just political blather!  Just another thing to divide the nation.

Fair Share Baloney

Fair Share.  This is the current buzz word.... we should all pay our Fair Share.  Sound good, doesn't it? The president had a few CEO's into the Oval office and they all agreed that they were NOT paying their Fair Share.  The President agreed and even Warren Buffett agreed that he too was not paying his Fair Share.

The problem is that no one does anything about it!  Nobody whips out a check book to pay his or her  Fair Share.  And why is that?

I will tell you.  What is your Fair Share?  How would you determine it?  And, if you did would you whip out your check book and pony up?

Ok, the federal government to the rescue!!!  Yes, they will tell us what is our Fair Share!  They will institute a new cabinet post call the Fair Share Department.  It will have staffers up the you know what and each one will have to have a office, desk, telephone (and cell, of course!) need files and a secretary.  Of course they will go to the university for studies on Fair Share, they will have congressional hearings, tons of paper and many, many parties (ah, er. seminars) in Vegas.

The conclusion....  If somebody says so and so is not paying his Fair Share and does not define Fair Share; they are just blowing smoke, not serous and is engaging is pure campaign rhetoric.

Let's see how we can divide America today!
